Area Family History Advisers

Area family history advisers work closely with the Area Seventies and coordinating councils. Generally, priesthood holders or couples are called to serve as area family history advisers.

The Church's Family History Department provides orientation and training for the new advisers. The department will contact new advisers after being notified of their callings.

There are many times where it is scary to stand alone, and it is always very difficult to stand alone but when you do you find you are not alone and it is natural to want to be part of a big crowd of people no matter if they are sinful or not and don't let satan tell you that it is bad to stand... alone and it is best to listen to other people that do evil things, I say no to being part of mainstreem things that are evil, and it is hard to stand alone but you must find the will power to do so and please listen to what President Monson has to say in the video. MORE

This past year has been hard on my family partly because of the choices i have made. I thought that the friends i had were good friends and good influences. I kept lying to myself and thinking that they were good but in reality they were awful. I started swearing and saying mean things to people... that didn't deserve it I soon found myself almost the end of the school year seeing this awful look on my fathers face. He had seen some of the things I said about him. The very next day I went with my mother to an ice cream shop and spent a long time with her which I don't usually get to do. On the way home we stopped by our home teachers and he came up to me and we started talking and I said " I need to change!" He told me to go home and give my father a hug. I went home and I was tense and nervous. I went up to my father and hugged him and said I need to change. I now know that I wont stand alone in my change and never will and those friends probably wont know how good it feels to change MORE

This story reminds me of a talk I heard once! There was this girl, and she was the only person in her entire school who belonged to the church. Yet all the teachers thought she was different somehow. She actually managed to convert some of them to the gospel! I thought that if she could live in a... school with no church friends around her, then what can we do. What are our strengths? What are our weaknesses? What is our capacity of willingness to serve? Alondra Lucia P. says:

Often, I find myself standing alone in school. Many times have I heard the phrase, "Why are you wearing jeans under your dress?" "You should wear a bikini." "It's hot. You should wear tanktops." I always must patiently reply, "I don't. It is against my religion." And then, "Plus it would be very... AWKWARD for me. " Often, I have silenced aquaintances and friends who have sworn in front of me. One of my friends laughed, swore again and then, regarding my shocked face, giggled, "I love seeing your reaction!" I don't hang out with her anymore. Though it is hard, though at times we may feel ashamed---we need to stand tall...even if it means standing alone. Teachers and students all around have praised me for my good example. I've even been told to stop being so nice. It feels good to have a good reputation and to know that people are realizing your good actions---because they always are! "DARE TO BE MORMON" Thank you, Thomas S. Monson! MORE

At school it feels like I'm standing alone all the time! I hear cursing, hear about nasty things that students have seen and even done. Every time I hear that I be sure to tell them to please not talk about that around me or just to stop doing what they're doing. Since I heard the Confernece Talk... that President Thomas S. Monson gave "Dare to be a Mormon" I find myself frequently repeating that line in my head. So if the people do not use nice language or are innappropriate I simply just leave them and go talk to the other Mormon Youth at school. This was so inspiring! I had a similar experience to President Monson's, in the fact that I felt that I was alone, but I really wasn't. We went hiking at girl's camp one year, and I had a really difficult time on one part of the trail. I felt a little embarassed that I had slowed everyone down. At... a testimony meeting later that night, I realized that every single person had challenges and difficulty on that hike. I was amazed as I realized that I hadn't been alone! This was a heartfelt story. I have had friends that said some things that were not something I wanted to hear. As soon as I finished, another 2 friends of mine stood up and... walked over to stand by my side. We left the table and walked to another table far away form them. The people who were saying those words, apologize after lunch was over. They told us they thought it wold be funny. I told them it was a cruel joke and to not repeat it in front of us. And I live in an area where the school is atleast 90 LDS my teacher was teaching us about the Mormon Pioneers. She said that they came here because of a misleading book, and... not a vision from our Heavenly Father. So I raised my hand, and told her I didn't think that was right. Then she admitted that Brigham Young "supposedly" had a vision, and that was good enough for me! I know he REALLY did have a vision, but just my teacher accepting the idea made me happy.
